With the Corel Photo-Paint 8 application, you can edit your digital photos and images. The software includes many features that allow you to touch up a photo, including the drop shadow effect and brush tools. You can also remove the background from an image by using the Free Hand Mask tool. Using this tool can be helpful if you want to move a main image to be inserted into another photo or if you want a main image to appear by itself.

Instructions

    Open the Corel Photo-Paint 8 application on your computer. Click the "File" option from the top toolbar menu and then click the "Open" option.

    Locate the image on your computer that you want to remove the background for and then click on it so it's selected. Click the "Open" button and then the image will appear in the application.

    Right-click the image and then click the "Create from Background" option. Select the "Free Hand Mask" tool from the toolbox toolbar.

    Click the "Normal" option from the property bar. Use your mouse to carefully draw around the image that you want to continue appear.

    Double-click on the main image when you're finished outlining with the Free Hand Mask tool. Press the "CTRL" and "C" keys on your keyboard at the same time.
